The Iraq War. Isurgency, Violence and Mitigation as it Unfolds

The war in Iraq began March 20, 2003 with the invasion of Iraq. In a short period of time the goverment of Iraq was overthrown and it's leaders arrested and some executed. Since this time forces in the country have struggled for control of the country. A strong insurgency has developed with the suspected support of near by countries who whish to influence matters in the region. Sectarian violence has raged off and on since the war began. The current goverment is struggling to solidify control of the country and bring together factions with deeply divided hopes for their future. Millions of people are caught up in the consequences.
